Gaza \u2014<\/strong> The ceasefire that was expected to pave the way toward an end to violence and the recovery of civilian life has not yet fully brought a sense of safety to the people of the Gaza Strip. Although the ceasefire agreement, supported and mediated by the United States, has reduced large-scale fighting, attacks and incidents of violence continue to be reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to recent reports, more than 1,150 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect<\/strong>, with many of the victims reportedly being civilians. These figures show that, for many people in Gaza, a ceasefire has not truly meant an end to their suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Ceasefire That Has Not Brought Safety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ceasefire agreement has reduced the intensity of the large-scale fighting that previously devastated much of Gaza. However, airstrikes, gunfire, and military operations continue to be reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-July, a series of attacks reportedly killed Palestinians, including a 10-year-old child. Other reports also indicated that attacks continued in various parts of Gaza, including areas near shelters where families who had lost their homes were seeking refuge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conflict-monitoring organization ACLED reported that airstrikes targeting Hamas and other armed groups increased to more than 40 attacks in June, the highest monthly total since the ceasefire began. This demonstrates that although the term \u201cceasefire\u201d is being used, violence on the ground has not completely stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millions of Palestinians Remain Displaced<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The crisis in Gaza is not only about the number of people killed. Nearly the entire population of Gaza\u2014approximately two million people\u2014has experienced displacement during the conflict. Many families have been forced to live in makeshift tents, damaged buildings, or overcrowded shelters that cannot provide adequate protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicate that residents of Gaza remain concentrated in areas covering less than half of the Gaza Strip. They face extreme overcrowding, limited access to healthcare, shortages of clean water, and inadequate sanitation, all of which increase the risk of disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For families who have been forced to move repeatedly, daily life is defined by uncertainty. They have not only lost their homes, but also access to schools, employment, healthcare facilities, and the communities that once formed part of their everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Healthcare System Remains Under Severe Pressure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gaza\u2019s healthcare sector faces enormous challenges after years of conflict and widespread destruction. Many medical facilities have been damaged, while healthcare workers continue to operate under extremely difficult conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limited access to medicines, medical equipment, fuel, clean water, and electricity has made treating patients increasingly difficult. Even as large-scale fighting decreases, medical needs remain extremely high because many people are suffering from serious injuries, chronic illnesses, psychological trauma, and worsening health conditions caused by prolonged displacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The health crisis does not affect only the wounded. Children, elderly people, pregnant women, and patients with chronic illnesses are particularly vulnerable when healthcare services cannot function normally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clean Water and Sanitation Remain Serious Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most urgent humanitarian problems in Gaza is the limited access to clean water and adequate sanitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High population density, damaged infrastructure, and limited waste-management systems create significant risks to public health. OCHA has reported that water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions remain serious concerns, while many people continue to live in overcrowded locations without adequate basic facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In such circumstances, diseases can spread more quickly. Unsafe drinking water, limited toilet facilities, and damaged sewage systems can further worsen the health of a population that is already extremely vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Civilians Continue to Live Under the Shadow of Fear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the people of Gaza, the threat does not come only from direct attacks. Uncertainty about the safety of their homes, the possibility of renewed attacks, and limited access to basic necessities mean that daily life remains filled with fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For families who have lost their homes and loved ones, a ceasefire does not automatically erase the consequences of war. Recovery requires genuine security, reliable access to humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of infrastructure that has been destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Death Toll Shows That the Crisis Is Far from Over<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A July 10 OCHA report stated that, according to data from Gaza\u2019s Ministry of Health, at least 1,084 Palestinians had reportedly been killed and 3,491 injured since the ceasefire agreement was announced on October 10, 2025<\/strong>. In subsequent reports, the death toll continued to rise, surpassing 1,150 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These figures are not merely statistics. Behind every number is a family that has lost a parent, child, sibling, or loved one. Every additional victim also adds to the burden of a society that has already experienced immense destruction as a result of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Must Not Treat a Ceasefire as the End of the Crisis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A ceasefire should be the first step toward a permanent end to violence. However, as long as attacks continue, civilians continue to lose their lives, and basic needs cannot be consistently met, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has not ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international community faces the enormous challenge of ensuring that the ceasefire genuinely protects civilians. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter safely and consistently. Healthcare services must be restored. Clean water and adequate shelter must be provided. Most importantly, civilians must receive real protection from violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gaza may be under a ceasefire, but for many Palestinian families, suffering continues. Destroyed homes, a rising death toll, and lives trapped in displacement serve as a reminder that the end of large-scale war does not necessarily mean the end of a humanitarian crisis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As long as civilians continue to live in fear, lack access to basic necessities, and remain victims of violence, the world must not turn away. The crisis in Gaza requires attention, humanitarian assistance, and concrete action\u2014not merely political statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
